GTA T-Shirt

The original Grand Theft Auto was released for the PC (DOS) in 1997 and later ported to Windows, Playstation and even the Game Boy Color. It was a landmark title that spawned the all conquering GTA series we know and love today.

True to GTA tradition, this little groundbreaking gem courted contrvoversy upon its release. The player's goal was to score points to progress to the next level by completing criminal missions, stealing cars, go on killing sprees and causing havoc in general.

The game featured relatively crude visuals and 2D gameplay via a top-down view but many of the series' core defining features started life in the first Grand Theft Auto. Free roaming gameplay, carjacking, radio station soundtrack and non-linear missions were all present and correct with each iteration of the game improving but never radically changing the formula.
